Job Description:
Posting Range: $78,000 - $95,000 per year, DOE
ASU's Knowledge Enterprise Finance team seeks a Financial Manager,
Sr to assist in managing the financial operations for the newly
awarded Electrified Processes for Industry without Carbon (EPIXC)
project. As part of the Department of Energy's (DOE) 7th Clean
Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute, EPIXC focuses on
advancing U.S. manufacturing competitiveness through the
development of energy-efficient, cost-effective heating
technologies and a skilled workforce to implement them. This
position will oversee all post-award financial management
activities for EPIXC, ensuring compliance with federal and
institutional regulations, and contributing to the success of this
high-profile public-private partnership.
Essential Duties:
Post-Award Management: Oversee financial operations, including
budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for EPIXC awards. Ensure
compliance with DOE and institutional regulations.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit accurate and timely
financial reports to stakeholders, including the DOE, internal
teams, and other funding partners.
Budget Management: Develop, monitor, and adjust budgets as
necessary to align with project goals and expenditures. Proactively
address variances.
Grant Compliance: Ensure all financial activities align with
federal, state, and university guidelines, including Uniform
Guidance and sponsor-specific requirements.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary financial liaison
with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates and
resolving financial queries.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls
to safeguard project funds and ensure transparency in financial
processes.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with researchers, project managers,
and administrative staff to support project execution and financial
planning.
Audit Support: Prepare documentation and assist in responding to
audits or financial reviews by sponsors or institutional
entities.
Desired Qualifications:
Proficiency in post-award grant management, including knowledge of
federal regulations such as Uniform Guidance.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex
financial data and provide actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively
interact with diverse stakeholders
Master's degree in a related field.
Experience managing DOE or other federal grants.
Knowledge of public-private partnerships or large-scale research
initiatives.
Familiarity with university financial systems and processes.

Flexible work options:
Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a
workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for
exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of
60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location.
Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
Remote work is an arrangement where the employee spends less than
60% of their regular workweek at a regularly assigned ASU work
location. Executive vice president-level approval is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to
the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial
experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or
training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have
been achieved.
