The Community Navigator position is a fixed term position and will be a collaborated effort involving community assistance, community engagement and pandemic-related outreach function to connect with citizens in need. The Community Navigator will work in multiple capacities to connect with vulnerable populations, those affected by the pandemic and/or facing hardships. This position will proactively work with residents out of the Resource Center and by getting into neighborhoods to connect with them directly, thereby eliminating a major obstacle for residents to access government and services available to them.   • A vast experience in community outreach, public speaking, teaching and/or training.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Comfort working in an unpredictable environment with individuals who may be experiencing homelessness, housing issues, legal issues, financial issues and health, mental health or substance use challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to value diversity and be conscious of inherent cultural difference.
  • The ability to coordinate and implement support packages to people in crisis.
  • Experiencing connecting individuals and families with community-based resources.
  • An ability to be a self-motivated individual with a passion for providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
    A successful team member will also possess the following:
    • Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain a wide range of partnerships and relationships to effectively deliver services to Peoria's most vulnerable residents.
    • Communication Skills: Proficiency in communicating clearly, concisely, honestly, and persuasively with a diverse audience, including staff, leaders, elected officials, other municipalities, non-profit agencies, community partners, and residents.
    • Independent and Teamwork: Capability to work both independently and collaboratively, ensuring the timely and effective completion of projects and tasks.
    • Event Planning: Expertise in planning and hosting resource and educational events that engage and inform the community.
    • Adaptability: Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing priorities and environments.

      • Education: Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to Social Work, Human Services or Community Outreach and/or Engagement.
        • Equivalency: Equivalent years of experience are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience for every one (1) year of education required.

        • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years' experience in neighborhood programs, initiatives such as working as an advocate for residents in diverse and vulnerable communities, project management and related experience.
        • License: Valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire.
        • Bilingual: English/Spanish
          PREFERRED/DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
          • Experience in a municipal or government setting.
          • Experience collecting, analyzing and reporting data, including the development of dashboards or performance reports.
          • Experience working with citizen groups, community leaders and elected officials.
